Hi Guys – some sections of this guide offered a good consolidated overview of topics (history, language arts, science) – but the errors in the math section offset the value a lot. (Also – I was shocked at how little overlap there was between the actual exam I took and the material in the study guide. You’ll need to review other guides in addition to this one).

Here is a list of errors (at least the ones I noted):

    1. Page 96 – Sphere formula incorrect (should be ‘r-cubed’, not ‘r-squared’).

    2. Page 99 – See “Therefore, the probability of rolling a 3 is 1:6 or 1/6 or 1 to 6 or .6…” – the reference to ‘.6′ is incorrect and should be ‘.1666′.

    3. Page 89 – Slope formula is incorrect (should be: ‘x2 – x1′ in the denominator instead of ‘y2 – y1′.

    4. Page 103 – #1 (Mean…), line 2 ‘70′ is incorrect and should be ‘75′.

    5. Page 175 – sublimation starts from a ’solid’, not a ‘liquid’.

    6. Page 216 and 217 – #118 – Correct answer (’120′) is not listed as a choice. (See also page 226 for related calculation error).

    6.a. – Page 226 – #118 – denominator value incorrect (7! does not equal ‘1008′, it equals ‘5040′).

    7. Page 217 – #74 – typo – answer is ‘B’ (as indicated in solutions on page 223), not ‘A’ as referenced on pg 217.

    Good luck on your exam!

I didn’t get to spend a whole lot of time with this book, maybe a couple of hours for review, after all it is just a content knowledge test. The test covers k-6 knowledge so I didn’t think I would have to spend too much time studying. It is very good book for reviewing this basic knowledge. There were a couple of questions that were on the practice test in the book that were on the actual Praxis test, so I was grateful. And regretful that I didn’t read it more.

This book will not properly prepare you for the Content Knowledge Praxis II 0014 exam if it is the only thing you buy. There are many, many typos and lots of wrong information in this guidebook and you have to double check things (by the way: many people think that the 0014 exam is only information that students are taught from K-5. NOT TRUE:there are questions that ask difficult algebra, logic, reading comprehension, history, science, etc. This is a CONTENT KNOWLEDGE test for adults.) To prepare adequately, please purchase the study guide from ETS when you sign up to take your Praxis. Also, purchase the sample test available from ETS because the sample test from Cliffs Notes is way too easy and concentrates on inane facts. Also, the REA study book available on Amazon has some good information. Do yourself a favor and start reviewing early (don’t start a month before). If you are a well-read person and fairly intelligent, you will pass. If you want to score very high to get the ROE (recognition of excellence), you’ll probably need to study to review all this stuff from high school and college (I am almost 40). I wish someone would have pointed me in this direction when I read these reviews – I wouldn’t have wasted so much time with this review book or its sample test ( the questions are not like the real 0014). I took the test this summer and scored Recognition of Excellence (top 10%) probably because I purchased this guide, the REA guide and the study guide and sample tests from ETS when you sign up for the test.

This is a great book to study for the Praxis 014 test! The only downside was the practice test questions were all over unlike the real Praxis test where test questions were combined together based on subject areas of Language Arts, Math and Science. I would recommend this book.
