This book gives step-by-step directions for strategic planning. If you follow the guides your group will have a viable strategic plan.

This can be used at all levels in higher ed and I believe in the private sector.

There are great ways to get the information you need from all of the stakeholders with step-by-step instructions. At our college everyone has really felt buy-in because of the processes Pat uses.

I very highly recommend the book for anyone embarking on the strategic planning process.

I have had an opportunity to utilize Sanaghan’s Collaborative Strategic Planning in a few different settings. It is an excellent guide for those leading a strategic planning effort and has helped my organization through a year long planning process. It is also an excellent resource for those facilitating meetings who are looking for creative activities that actually move a group forward. Sanaghan manages to strike a balance between providing engaging interactive activities and actually getting lots of good, usable, and forward thinking data from groups.

I have had the wonderful opportunity to work with Pat Sanaghan as he facilitated his 5-Phase planning process with my staff. I was very pleased with how this process engaged my staff in one of the best planning processes I have attempted. His process brought together and engaged 20 different department heads in a collaborative and integrated strategic planning effort which resulted in a strong shared vision and set of goals and strategies for the division’s three year plan.

This book provides an easy to use outline and guide for this highly effective 5-phase planning process. I highly recommend it for those in higher education looking to improve their strategic planning efforts. Many of my staff have effectively used this process in their department planning.
